A First Look at the All-New 2018 BMW X2

In the premium subcompact market, there are a lot of fantastic options--and BMW knows what people are looking for. Following on the heels of the BMW X1's success, the German performance brand has introduced its all-new, first-ever 2018 BMW X2, the smallest subcompact Sports Activity Coupe and the first of its kind.

A Classically Premium Interior

The cabin of the 2018 BMW X2 will look and feel similar to that of the X1; with premium upholstery and available genuine leather seats, a clean and driver-centric dashboard, and soft-touch materials throughout the interior. The cut style of the BMW X2 does mean that this small crossover is good for about 21.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, and 50.1 cubic feet of cargo space with that rear seats folded down.

A Whole New Body for BMW

While the BMW X2 boasts the same wheelbase as the MW X1 SAV, but its shorter length and lowered height give it a distinctly sleeker appearance that's undeniably sporty, with a definite flair for the coupe. The look is entirely new for the brand, with a style that found a happy medium between the sharp drop of the SAC and the level lines of the SAV. The 2018 BMW X2 also introduces a new, inverted kidney grille.

Powerful Turbo Performance

The 2018 BMW X2 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, good for 228 horsepower. A standard xDrive All-Wheel Drive System comes standard--though BMW will surely offer a two-wheel drive option within the next model-year--and this crossover can sprint to 0-60 in just 6.3 seconds.

Connected Technology

Want smarts? The 2018 BMW X2 comes loaded with a ton of tech options and connectivity features; including BMW's infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen standard, and an 8.8-inch screen available; Apple CarPlay is available for those who can't be without their iPhone. A new BMW Connected + system can connect to your smartphone or even your smartwatch, and an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot can keep you in-the-loop anywhere.
